Lingasugur or Lingasugur Chavani, a small town of rural image, has a great history of its identity. It was a capital of Raja Billama according the inscription of Kardakal 400. Then it was district place during Nizam rule. After Independence Lingasugur came into being a Taluka and revenue sub-division under the Raichur District.

Valaballary Channabasaveshwara Education Society's Arts and Commerce College, Lingasugur had been established by the blessings of Sri. Sri. Ma. Ni. Pra Siddalinga Mahaswamiji, Sri Basavaraj Patil Anwari, Ex- Central and State Minister and Sri. Hampangouda Badarli, MLA of Sindhanoor, was the real strength and sprit being the establishment of this education society. Realizing the importance of Higher education for this educationally backward area, they thought of establishing higher educational institutions, as a result the Valaballary Channabasaveshwara Education Society's Arts and Commerce College came into being in 1984.

Valaballary Channabasaveshwara Education Society's Arts and Commerce College, a premier educational institution, has been permanently affiliated to Gulbarga University, Kalburgi, is recognized by U.G.C. under 2(f) and 12(b) and has been accredited by NAAC with “B” grade in 2005 and Re-accredited with “B” Grade in 2015. This is a co-education college with multi-faculties in B.A & B.Com courses.

The college is located on Raichur-Gulbarga By-Pass road with its own campus of 7 acers, 29 guntas. It is well-equipped with a large building containing well-ventilated and well-furnished class rooms with audio visual aids, a seminar hall, a fully digitalized library, with more than 23000 books, number of magazines and wi-fi connected campus. It has a greenery garden, spacious playground, women’s hostel and college canteen.

Being the oldest college in Lingasugur town, it has produced many eminent personalities and has possessed a heavy strength of students. It has most experienced and qualified faculty to impart a valuable knowledge. Among the faculty Five are Ph. D. holders and 9 are M. Phil. holders.
